I Thought I Should Do a Post

It occurred to me this morning that I should do a post. I was walking along Woodstock Road in Fredericton. The sun was out. It was a holiday day. “Why not go for a walk?” I thought. And then I did.

I had another thought as I walked, the one mentioned at the start of this. “I should do a post.” Specifically, I should do a post about a story called, The Strange Life He Recalls, which I wrote, actually took the time to submit somewhere, and is now up on one of my favourite web sites (aka, blogs), the Rose City Sisters.

The story is one of several I’ve written along similar lines. It uses a particular first person narrator (named Mayfair, though he’s unnamed in this story). He’s kind of a mash-up of Joseph Conrad’s recurring narrator Marlow and…well, I’m not sure what. But I do know he’s not quite as dour as Conrad’s. He’s a bit playful. And his stories are often best described as shaggy dog stories.

I’ve also done a slight update to my About page. Basically, I added a few of the stories I’ve had published here and there. I’ve had others published, but I’m not very good at keeping track of such things.

Lastly (not that it matters to anyone but me), I think I need to do some pruning through some of my posts. A lot of the stories and poems have changed–probably most of them have–and in many cases, the changes are so substantial the story (or poem) is utterly different. Yes, I see a weeding day on my horizon. When it arrives, I hope the sun is out like it is today.
